i want to write a detailed manual on how to build a gentoo and ubutnu based TPROXY squid server in a bridge and router mode.

if anyone can help me and give me a working guide i will be more then happy.

I'm pretty sure you have already seen this, but:
  http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/Tproxy4

for now i managed to build an ubuntu machine as a bridge with TPROXY but im having troubles with it. sometimes the iptables slips and wont pass the packets into the iptables and will just bridge them.

I'm beginning to suspect the Ubuntu people touched the kernel TPROXY code or libcap2 code with bad results. The same kernel version(s) which is known to be working in Debian fails with these weird problems in Ubuntu. :(

I've written off all Ubuntu older than Natty as too difficult to use with TPROXY. Still waiting on some feedback about whether it works easily with Natty and Oneiric. They definitely have all the prerequisite packages known to work together in Debian "out of the box".
