http://wiki.squid-cache.org/ConfigExamples/Authenticate/Kerberos
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/NegotiateAuthentication
deal explicitly with kerberos

http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/Authentication
offers an overview of authentication tout-court

http://wiki.squid-cache.org/ConfigExamples/Authenticate/Bypass
gives insights on how to have different flavours of authentication,
including how to show unauthorized users an authentication prompt.

Authentication popups are unfortunately not under the control of
Squid: the proxy can ASK for authentication. How the browser presents
this to the user (or, in some cases, how does it NOT present it to the
user) is up to the browser itself.
