File size: old - 2,5 Mb, new - 7 Mb.
There is no restrictions on the size of the files in squid.conf
Squid offers to upload the old file from the cache.
upload? You apparently mean provide.
Emptying the cache in the browser and restarting did not help.
Also no problems with images,excel,txt and html files.

Debian Lenny with negative result.
I can't understand what is the problem, or, what do you mean is the problem,
how do you want squid to behave.
He may be hitting bug #7 but not explaining it well.
NP: bug #7 is fixed in 2.7 (still present in 3.0).
