Well then,
 what type of media is it? and how is the traffic best identified?

That page covers the most common media types. It's not complete by any means.

The media type is flv.
It is from youtube.com and metacafe.com.


That config is used successfully by many for both blocking and with some additions caching as well.

If its not working for you blocking then there is something wrong with how you are using it. Likely its not in the right place of your squid.conf. Order matters _a lot_.
