On disk? Sure. The disk buffer cache helps quite a bit.

In memory ? (as in, the squid hot object cache; not the buffer cache)
? Not without investing some time into the Squid-2 fixes to do it.
I've toyed with it before and its reasonably easy to fix without
hurting performance.
