The Squid HTTP Proxy team is very pleased to announce the
availability of the Squid-3.1.0.9 beta release!

Another release with large amounts of improvements. Most of the large changes this time have been fixes for the distribution packaging side of things as more operating system distributions begin to package beta releases. If you are packaging Squid for any OS and have to apply patches to get it to build or install, now is the perfect time to bring them to our attention on the squid-dev mailing list.

Again the diff patch to upgrade from 3.1.0.8 has been omitted this release due to its size. Please grab a clean copy of the bundles or rsync.

The result of bug 2395: "FTP auth errors not displayed" being closed now is that FTP downloads from servers requiring FTP login now appear to be producing authentication popups from most browsers. An old often-remarked absence with the FTP fetch process.

Two new minor configuration options are added this release:
  - Bug 2682: Add ftp_epsv control to disable EPSV support.
  - Add "tag" type acl matching tags set by external acl helpers.

The error page templates are now fully updated to new ISO-639 codes and translations. The old named languages are gone starting with this release. Also a script and data file have been added to the package which creates aliases for auto-negotiation of languages known to have multiple country codes.

In other news some more minor changes are:
  - Port from 2.7: Show local address on listening sockets
  - Fix many Windows port issues
  - Fix squid_kerb_auth helper install location
  - Better detection of IPv6 stack types
  - Updates Licensing information for Squid 3.1
