The Squid HTTP Proxy team is very pleased to announce the
availability of the Squid-3.1.0.1 beta release!

This release is the first formal release of the 3.1 feature branch.
It is primarily intended as a release candidate for testing, although if found to be working may be used in any capacity.
Please note however; there are still a number of bugs open.

This release has an emphasis on improved RFC standards compliance and wider protocol support than previous Squid releases.

As a feature release over 3.0 this resolves many of the large issues found in the earlier Squid-3 releases which were unable to be resolved there.

    * Connection Pinning
         (for NTLM Authentication Pass through)
    * Quality of Service (QoS) Flow support
         (Zero Penalty Hit)
    * eCAP Adaptation Module support
         (internal variant of ICAP for faster adaptation)
    * TPROXY version 4.1+ support

Also adding the following new capabilities and enhancements to Squid:

    * Minimal squid.conf
    * Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)
    * Error Page Localization
    * Error Page CSS styling
    * SSL Bump (for HTTPS Filtering and Adaptation)
    * DNSv6 extensions
    * FTP extensions

... and many other minor features listed in the ChangeLog
