The line logged above that fatal should say what is wrong. I this case there are no units listed ('deny' is not a known measure of size).
The format of that line is: reply_body_max_size <size> <units> [acl ...] ie. reply_body_max_size 1228800 bytes deny asu Amos -- Please use Squid 2.7.STABLE4 or 3.0.STABLE9
