Don't stop using Squid-2 just yet; plenty more changes will be going into Squid-2 whilst Squid-3 is maturing. Amos and co have plans to forward port the missing features from Squid-2 to Squid-3 whilst I and others are adding in other features to Squid-2 for performance and conformity.
