Okay. If you silence them with 'D' option does otherwise work properly?
It may be just a timing issue on restart.

Dear Friends

In my Fedora core 6 box installed squid-3.0.STABLE8 by it's source in
port
8080 and squid-2.6.STABLE13-1.fc6 installed by it's rpm in port 3128. I
had
to do go for that option according to my requirement. anyway this set-up
is
working very well.

DNS taken form /etc/resolve.conf

But after few days suddenly there was a following error in squid-3.0.STABLE8's cache.log.

Performing DNS Tests...
FATAL: ipcache_init: DNS name lookup tests failed.
Squid Cache (Version 3.0.STABLE8): Terminated abnormally.

Obviously most of the requests were failed . This is happened only in
squid-3.0.STABLE8. No errors in squid-2.6.STABLE13-1.fc6.

I found a solution as I hard corded DNS name server in squid.conf and
it's
started to work.

my question is , why this type of abnormal behaviour happens in
squid-3.0.STABLE8? Can somebody direct me to a solution please.
Is this message being displayed when booting the machine or on later restarts?

On boot the -D option can be used to prevent testing before the system is up. Later occurances may be a sign squid can't load the resolv.conf.
