I don't remember exact browser versions, but some (several) years ago
some of the mainstream browser versions (one of Mozilla or MSIE, not
sure) forgot to enable the SSL wrapper when switching from http to https
and there was an existing persistent connection for the same hostname
via the same proxy:port, sending the request as a GET https:// request
to the proxy..
