I tried to take a quick look, but its all reliant on Cygwin which has problems on X64. I'll have to setup a VM to check it out.

It's better to use MinGW+MSYS, it works fine on my Windows XP x64.

Guido - you here? :) Which version of VS does this work in? or is it just a make file and every user has to make their own IDE projects?

For Squid 2.x code branch you must use Visual Studio 6.
Yes, I know that this is an old compiler version, but it generate the better C 32 bit binaries.

The Squid project is complex, and loading it with a new Visual Studio is not so simple.
