You will need a 64-bit enabled squid to go higher than 2GB.Yea, I hope i'll be able to replace the CPUs
How old are the 2950s? AFAIK, those produced in the last 3-4 years have all been 64bit capable; you should only need to reinstall with a 64bit distro. =]
