Just allow access to the windows update servers before where you
normally require authentication.

Does the first acl line:
acl winupdate dstdomain .microsoft.com .windowsupdate.com
not do this? I put the always_direct rule in before the mynetwork rule
but it doesn't seem to do the trick.
