Let me make some guesses... you're using IE... you're using proxy authentication (I could've checked but I know where I'm going with this)... you haven't previously authenticated to the proxy in the current session. In which case, your browser is at fault! Run to Microsoft and complain. Basically, IE when requested for proxy authentication for an https resource, duly prompts for authentication but then proceeds to downgrade the request to an http request for an origin server and not a proxy request as required. Try using a proper browser or raise a fault with M$. Or if you have a death wish, try 'upgrading' to IE7. I have no idea if they've fixed it in that!
