The default number of threads is dependent on the number of aufs
cache_dir lines, based on a reasonable estimate of how the code behaves.

Squid-2:

1: 16
2: 26
3: 32
4: 36
5: 40
6: 44
[and so on with + 4 more per cache_dir]

In Squid-3 the default table looks a little different, with 16 threads
per cache_dir configured (even if not aufs).

There is no absolute maximum, but going above 60 or so will probably
result in reduced performance with a lot of wasted CPU time.
