Hi Henrik. You're right. However, the wbinfo_group.pl helper worked perfectly well, blocking members of groups i specify. Turning on the debug options on the perl script gave this output in the cache.log file: Got john.halfpenny staff from squid wbinfo: not found wbinfo: not found User: -john.halfpenny- Group: -staff- SID: -- GID: -- wbinfo: not found Sending OK to squid As a wild stab in the dark I decided to link the wbinfo file in /usr/local/bin to /usr/bin: # ln /usr/local/bin/wbinfo /usr/bin/wbinfo And now this is the output in the cache.log: Got john.halfpenny staff from squid User: -john.halfpenny- Group: -staff- SID: -S-4-2-31-839522562-266573732-723386743-1315- GID: -40010- Sending OK to squid So it seems that although the group authent was working, it was stumbling at the SID and GID for each user. :-) Thought I'd post it in case anyone else had the same problem. Thanks for your help! It authenticates with Windows no problem, but in the cache.log file I have repeated entries like this:> > wbinfo: not found> wbinfo: not found> wbinfo: not found> etc. Those should be from wbinfo_group or a similar helper... Most likeysamba wbinfo is not in the $PATH used by wbinfo_group. Doubt that partis working at all in your setup.RegardsHenrikAttachment: signature.asc (0.31KB) _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
