As far as I recall, squid is an HTTP proxy and not an HTTPS proxy (can not be cached... and could only operate as a Man in the Middle). Allow FORWARD HTTPS requests through your firewall.

Kind Regards

Mernoz,

Thanks for the suggestion but rebooting is not working in my case.

I would say that it's a problem while accessing secure sites of yahoo
and some other sites like webmail.earthlink.net

Can somebody shed some light on this issue?

Hi,

I do get a similar problem ! But for me it says: connection refused !

I did restart the server (complete reboot) and until now it is
working fine.

Subject: Problems while connecting to yahoo webmail
service

Dear All,
I am getting the following error while connecting to: mail.yahoo.com

The surprising part is that some of my proxy servers can connect to
this site while some can't.

I am very puzzled why this is happening. The web browsers shows the
following error:

While trying to retrieve the URL:
http://us.f572.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?

The following error was encountered:

* Connection Failed
The system returned:

    (60) Operation timed out

The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request
again.

Access.log shows:

[22/Nov/2006:14:06:48 +0545] "GET http://mail.yahoo.com/ HTTP/1.1"
302 576 TCP_MISS:DIRECT

Cache.log doesn't seem to show any entries regarding the above
site.

If I put https://mail.yahoo.com, I get the following

[22/Nov/2006:14:10:54 +0545] "CONNECT mail.yahoo.com:443 HTTP/1.1"
200 5569 TCP_MISS:DIRECT

But still, I can't connect to yahoo's email service page.

If you want more debug information, I can send it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note: All my proxy servers are running Squid-2.5 on FreeBSD.
