Has always been the case but is never needed in any reasonable network
setup. Instead return traffic towards the clients is routed as usual.

You only need GRE for the return path if the cache is remote in another
network not having normal routing to your clients.

ip_gre. See the FAQ for instructions.

only look at ip_wccp if on an old kernel where ip_gre does not work.
