Thanks Brian, That was one of the many resources I used. I too found it useful and when I tried installing from source (last resort) I followed his step-by-step guide *exactly* - Still didn't work... Brian P. Thanks Brian, Brian Phillips wrote: Do: # ls -l /usr/bin/squidGuard And tell us what the permissions are (paste em here.) Since I wrote my message (it's an edited form of the one I sent to the squidGuard mailing list) I have uninstalled that (RPM) version of squidGuard and installed from source. The current version is therefore in /usr/local/squidguard/bin/ It gives me: [root@localhost mark]# ls -la /usr/local/squidguard/bin/squidGuard -rwxr-xr-x 1 squid squid 731596 Jan 11 14:18 /usr/local/squidguard/bin/squidGuard I have tried changing ownerships and permissions of every file I can think of and followed every guide I can find... Any help gratefully received... Thanks again. Mark
