you may be swapping too much. read SQUID FAQ for informations about squid's
memory usage

a bit low for that huge cache, I'd increase it to 64 MB

too big imho, it will decrease memory hit raqtio

aufs would be faster on linux systems. Do you have enough of shared memory?
read the squid faq for more info.
