Thanks for all the responses.

I think the load on my freebsd is less than my linux box. also the cpu information for both of my boxes are attached .. i dont think there is much difference.

---- " Have you checked your duplex settings " ----- how do i do that ????

The two boxes are not the same ..

i have reiserfs on my linux box .. whereas in freebsd its my usual freebsd partition.

Please guide me into some possible discrepancy factors.. such that it would help me tune my box for better performances..

Yet another thing, i have GRE tunnel which intercepts the WCCP packet from my router and i have used ipfw for the purpose. ( in freebsd box)

Thanks

Nitin

squid is transparent and with diskd support.

linux can, freebsd5 probably can too handle aufs. it should be faster than
diskd.

however we don't know how many requests do they handle per minute...

what might be the factors for such discrepancies ??

many possible factors. not enough informations :)

i compiled squid in a freebsd box for better performance with some kernel tunings.
