Hi, I am actually having the same problem with my Redhat AS 3 squid. I have not compiled anything. It just started to happen. The recently had a some patches done to it before that it was working for over 4 months. Unfortunately the person who did patched it didn't write down which patches were installed. It seems to die like you describe after a few hours of use. I first thought My cache was corrupt and re-built it. The patches broke my samba trust between my windows 2000 server and samba. I am using group memberships to determine who can use the proxy server. I recently removed that requirement but it continues to die. I will continue to follow this thread.
