Hi

I am slightly confuse in setting refresh_pattern for my squid box.
I am running squid 2-5-10 stable on Redhat 9.
As per my configuration
Max_object_size 1024 KB

I want to save more bandwidth and I realize I have lot of traffic for windows update.
I made changes in refresh_pattern for windows update

refresh_pattern http://.*\.windowsupdate\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims
refresh_pattern http://office\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims
refresh_pattern http://windowsupdate\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims
refresh_pattern http://w?xpsp[0-9]\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims
refresh_pattern http://w2ksp[0-9]\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims
refresh_pattern http://download\.microsoft\.com/ 0 80% 20160 reload-into-ims

I got this configuration from squid forum. I hope this is correct.

My question is with maximum_object_size as 1 MB will I get any advantage if windows update is more than 1 MB in size???
Shouldn't I increase this. My cache dir size is 40 GB and cache_mem is 256.

Thanks - LK
