Squid crashing with too few NTLM authenticators

Squid Version: 2.5Stable10
OS: Solaris 8
Samba Version: Version 3.0.14a

Would it be normal for Squid to crash and restart if there are too few NTLM authenticators? I observed this error while stress testing our Squid setup from one of our computer labs. Obviously I need to increase the number but should Squid crash?
