   David,

Indeed, your proxy is resolving the address; or else your Squid would return " Name Error: The domain name does not exist".

The question is, check if your server CAN CONNECT to the destination host server in the http port (80).

Rodrigo,

The proxy can connect to the outside world. I can do an nslookup of
different websites from the proxy, and they resolve properly. I forgot
to mention that the proxy is behind a pix firewall.

Subject: Connection failed error message with Squid
2.5STABLE10

Dear list,

I'm a newbie to Squid. I've installed Squid 2.5 Stable 10 on Fedora 2.
The installation went without a hitch. Then I went to test squid. I
tested in (2) ways. I ran squidclient and used the url
http://www.squid-cache.org/. I received the "alarm clock" message. The
other way I tested was I configured Internet explorer to use the server
running squid as its proxy. I tried browsing different websites but
each time received the same error message, "connection failed". Below
are more detailed error messages. I tested out squid.conf with squid -k
parse after each change. In my squid.conf I added my own acl rules of:
acl MyNetwork src 10.xx.0.0/16
http_access allow MyNetwork
http_access deny ALL

squid -N -d1
