I am having trouble connecting via cachemgr.cgi
I get "connect: (111) Connection refused"

Did you specify the correct host and port?

With the cachemgr.cgi I got from Debian Sarge I can only input cache
server, manager name and password.

I think there is a config file somewhere for the debian cachemgr.cgi. See the debian Squid package for details.

A similar config file was added in Squid-2.5.STABLE10 based on the input provided by the Debian manager. The Squid-2.5.STABLE10 approach is documented in the cachemgr.cgi man page describing it's use.

Quite likely the port defaults to 3128 (the default Squid port).

Henrik
