thanks for the reply. no redirector in use. if i disable the proxy in the browser settings, the pictures will load. in access.log, i've got the following:
1115741495.718 8 192.168.0.101 TCP_NEGATIVE_HIT/403 1438 GET http://photos1.blogger.com/img/198/4480/400/Walker.jpg - NONE/- text/html
which corresponds to the image at http://daveslongbox.blogspot.com/2005/05/mark-v-ewok-crusher.html

Are you perhaps using a redirector?
What did access.log say?
