Hi everyone

I've posted this previously but didn't get a response so I'm trying again.

When clients visit some sites they are repeatedly prompted by their browsers for authentication to the proxy. It doesn't matter if this is the first request for a site that requires auth (we've a few "free-access" sites) or if they've been surfing for some time. If the authentication information is entered then a little more of the page is displayed; repeatedly hitting Cancel on the authentication dialog does similar although some portions of the page don't load. There are no errors showing in cache.log.

Anybody got any ideas? I'm sure I've seen similar posts before on this list but a goodly amount of time searching the archives and google hasn't matched my problem.

Information: the servers are both identical RHEL 3.0 ES boxes running the latest versions as supplied by Red Hat (kernel 2.4.21-27.0.4.ELsmp and squid-2.5.STABLE3-6.3E.8). They run basic authentication using squid_ldap_auth against a couple of active directory servers and finally all traffic is routed using redirectors to Websense Enterprise 5.5 which does content filtering.

Are you doing transparent proxying?
