ok,, i will recompile the package now and see ,,
anyway, before i recompile the package im going to edit the include/autoconf.h in the squid directory to 8192 then i will recompile,,
im using squid 2.4 on red hat 9.0 ;) ... but this problem is killing me man !!

Good during compiling you must have seen that the __FD_SETSIZEnumber
squidwas detected by the compiler right? We have this setup too and as Henrik says just try and stop your

Why did you edit this file? (no longer required).

Did you also set the ulimit before starting Squid?
