Hi Brothers I am new to this group and this is my 1st post to this group.. i found this gorup intresting coz i am more keen to squid ...and intrested in learning the most i can about it...well the problem i am facing is regarding FTP ... i searched a lot regarding my query on google but was not sucessfull i want to uses ftp client eg: cute ftp to get and put files on (external)ftp server through squid .. i know that squid is not a ftp proxy .. but it acts as a gateway to ftp (http proxing works well).... i added this lines in my squid.conf acl FTP proto FTP always_direct allow FTP but still not working .. i get messg as 403 forbbiden in cute ftp.... pls suggest .. and correct me if i am wrong..... Next Issue.....VERY IMP...... My IT manager is plaining to keep squid as only caching server and impliment "websence" or "surfcontrol" windows based application for filtering .... and if it happens it would be very shamefull for me being a linux administrator... so ... any tips for making squid strong enough to stand againest this applications are most wellcomed......
