Does res stand for something like count as well? Honest
question.

So, this function is used to compare two lists and count the
number of elements that in list1 are not in list2 and for each of
those elements you fire a callback. Fine. On
enable_hotplug_support() you will call this function with empty
list2 only to fire a callback for each element of list1. Fine.

The only thing to be picky here is, then, some info about it as
quick summary of the function and perhaps this res variable (here
and in subclass_proc() to something like num_devs or something).
As doc, something like "return the number of elements in list1
not present in list2 and fire the callback for each given
element"

This is a cosmetic change but one I'd welcome.

So, comparing old_list with new_list means number of missing
devices and then comparing new_list with old_list would mean
added devices. Fine. I'd only change res above to something like
num_changes and below a explicit if (num_changes > 0) and should
be clear enough (imho) to even remove the code comment inside if.

Apart from this minor thing, patch is fine.
