Yes, almost. The X-server starts a XDMCP session with a remote desktop session manager so, AFAIK, all X clients must run in the remote server.

I tried these two scenarios:

a) Run spice-vdagentd in the VM (obviously) and spice-vdagent in the VM. I have not been able to get spice-vdagent to communicate with the X-server, due to the XDMCP session, I suppose. I am not even sure this is possible, or if the X-server will only accept connections from the remote server.

b) Run spice-vdagent in the remote session server. It complains about not finding the virtio device (which is not used anymore...) but also about not being able to connect with the unix socket to communicate with spice-vdagentd, since they are in different machines. Is it possible to have spice-vdagentd and spice-vdagent communicate with TCP sockets?

Currently, we have solved the problem by running a local X session with spice-vdagent and a Xephyr server in fullscreen that starts the XDMCP remote session.
