This is my vote as well (which is maybe obvious since I Acked a bunch of the patches already). Code churn and rebasing difficulty is certainly an issue. But I personally think that cleanup and consistency is worth the headache. (Or are there some big refactoring branches active right now that would be severely impacted by this?
