unfortunately we are not implementing desktop application.

That's good but this lead different possibilities:
1- use the current plain C way;
2- use GLib signals directly;
3- use another GLib signal implementation;
4- wrap GLib signals;
5- wrap another signal implementation.

Just I'm against option 2.
