Ok..I was able to get very good video quality from the following desktops: gnome2, fedora21-mate, and kde..So the problem was definitely with gnome3.

Are there any fixes for this issue, and if there is help needed to test patches or packages for the enhancement of gnome3 I can help, as I have a full lab at my disposal...:-)

Thanks for the help everybody!

I currently use centos 7 and Fedora 21 guests with gnome3 desktop.

The application I am having issues with is any application that requires redraw on screen (firefox, chrome, youtube, hulu..etc)  I wanted to be able to test apps like arcgis desktop.

Right now I was just expecting quality video streams without the redraw (choppy) issue.

Network configuration is all 10Gbe (internal infrastructure ), but 1gbe for streaming to our laptops

Hi,
I think you should not recompile. I assume you installed successfully QXL drivers in any guest.

However some more details are needed.
- which type of guests are you using?
- with which application type you have poor performances?
- do you measure performance or just expect more responsiveness?
- does screen refresh slowly?
- what's the network configuration?
- what's latency? (like ping response)
- what's the bandwidth? (which kind of connection)

Subject: Poor video performance

Hello,

I am new to using the spice client, and I wanted to know if there is something I can do about video performance.

I am currently using the downloaded version of the Windows and CentOS client (the latest version on spice website)...should I compile the spice client?

My problem comes in when I simulate user experience with youtube, or any application that redraws.  Performance for Desktop applications  (libre, vim, surfing the web..except website with lots of advertising).

I looked at the FAQ about poor performance and didn't know how to check for the options: http://www.spice-space.org/page/FAQ

Any help would be appreciated.  Also, I am using ovirt 3.5.
