Do you get that dependency issue if you try to install the qxl driver
ubuntu package in the 14.04 guest?

Looking at http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/xserver-xorg-video-qxl ,
the dependencies mentioned in the bug report seems to be in good order
for trusty.
