Hi,
I checked the latest version on spice 0.26-2, the problem i mentioned doesn't persist in the latest release. Its only part of Ubuntu "Trusty" repository i believe, since spice package is in debian format and patches are maintained separately in <spice-X.Y.Z>/debian/patches/*. I shall report this to Ubuntu listing and check with them.

Could you try spice 0.26-2, spice 0.12.4 is a very old release.
