It's good you try on Windows 8 too :) It's weird that there are no entries in machine menu (you mean the start menu right? I thought it was gone in Win8, perhaps there is a different mechanism now), I will have to take a look. The MSI build is relatively new, and we don't have good means to generate dependencies automatically, which is a PITA. So thanks for the reminder, we should address that. (I am afraid it will be hard to push the required changes atm).
