The CPU: decoding and re-encoding of 1080p at 24-30fps is really a lot of computation  (in JPEG, but even more with video codecs)!

This is very wasteful, and should use video codec pass-through instead. It's a feature we would like to see some day: http://spice-space.org/page/Features/CodecPassthrough
