Modifiying a T2000 and Radeon 6570 to work together.

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

So far I have lopped off a PCI-E 16x card to work in an 8x slot in
addition to that I may need to modify the sense pins but I doubt it.
PCI-E 8x ends at the 49th pin. I also had to modify the slot on the
T2000 with a small notch using an xacto knife so the card would go all
the way in as I was not able to make a deep enough cut into the card
without cutting into the traces for the pin 49.

Also note that the system does boot correctly without the card
installed. So any errors below are with the card installed in the
middle PCI-E slot it doesn't fit in the other slots due to the card
running into things.

Another problem may be excessive power draw on from the PCI-E bus...
the card is rated for 44 watts max but it should start up with less
that that at least around 10-11 watts I think is what is expected. I'm
not sure how much the T2000 can provide but hopefully in the worst
case the TDP can be limited to not exceed the bus limits.

Currently the card is detected on the PCI-E bus but the ucode fails to load.

After this it continues booting but fails to setup the lo interface
and if I CTRL+C there I it hangs attempting to start dhcpcd.

I have attached a full log of the problem as well. I'm currently
running 3.9.11 but intend to upgrade to current code soon so if this
is something that has been over come by more recent kernels let me
know.

Also I am aware of the ram on this box being half disabled.. I think
there are some weak solder joints on the RAM or Mainboard... as it
works properly after it has been in a warm room for awhile.

Hopefully this is of interest! I've noticed a few people from time to
time on the Gentoo forums wishing to get a video card going so I am
finally having a go at it.

Thanks,
Chase
