Retry with gcc-4.0.x please.
Yes, I will install 4.0 and try.
Debian's 4.1.x sparc gcc couldn't even build the sun partition
handling code corrently just a few months ago.
Last few releases of 2.6.17 for unstable have been built with gcc 4.1, and no
major problems related to the compiler switch were reported.
Debian's 2.6.17-1 package works fine indeed.
