Hi,
I'm afraid we're over-engineering this whole thing, and we'll end up with something which is even more complicated than what we are trying to clarify :)
Christer,
There are multiple things to do here:
1) decide what is correct
2) explain what is correct in a way that is understandable
to implementors and testers.
3) explain *why* it is correct, based on the existing RFCs,
in sufficient precision to convince the doubters.
What is in this mail thread is a combination of the three.
The draft needs to address both (2) and (3). But if it is organized
carefully, the part addressing (3) which is probably the most confusing
part, can perhaps be segregated from (2) which is the part most readers
will be interested in.
Thanks,
Paul
