Hi Paras,

I built a set of scripts for pretty much that purpose available at 
http://www.frozentux.net/statsnet/ if you are interested.

They are fairly simple, but they work. In order to use them, you need to 
have the RRD-tools installed (spinoff from the MRTG project), and that 
should be it. They will create a couple of html pages in 
/var/www/htdocs/statsnet/ per default with TX/RX bytes/packets and open 
connections (taken from /proc/net/ip_conntrack, requires conntrack to be 
built and used from netfilter).
