Lee,

more specifically, check the RedHat/base/hdlist file for corruption ...
they should match the md5sums here:

# md5sum RedHat/base/hd*
da08ed9f6b3071fd6361e9eb1fc370f9  RedHat/base/hdlist
31bbfea4b72c2e25b4c57f8226cd3ac5  RedHat/base/hdlist2
7e0de3f0cbc607b6ce506977ff326728  RedHat/base/hdstg1.img
#

Let me know if this solves your problem.

PS. one can pass the url for ftp.redhat.com or mirror site as well
(assuming a decent speed connection to the net and not overloaded
mirror) to the installer.
