For those who start to play with RedHat, I found that disks created in CDL format with the SuSE 7.2 beta code could not be mounted in my RedHat 7.2 system (latest Rawhide level). Rather than try out all possible combination I guess I should look at the patches to see where this has happened. Jan 25 15:56:52 linux005 kernel: FAT: bogus logical sector size 783 Jan 25 15:56:52 linux005 kernel: VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev 5e:20. When I ran fdasd against it to look at it: [root@linux005 root]# fdasd /dev/dasdi reading volume label: VOL1 reading vtoc : ok Correcting f1 header number! Correcting f1 header number! WARNING: it looks like your DASD has been partitioned with an older version of fdasd. Updating data set names... After I wrote the partition table (not sure if I had to) I could mount again. The way back to the SuSE 7.2 worked fine.
