Thanks for the quick reply.

I did as you suggested and now the device iucv0 is active. However, I'm
still not able to connect with another image in VM.

Earlier, I neglected to mention that i'm trying to set up an iucv
connection between two linux images under VM. We used this connection to
retrieve the installation files. Now i'm trying to reestablish that
communication. The older image (SuSE) still has the same iucv setup as
during the installation process.

I have the vm usernames declared in the parm files and active iucv devices,
but no connection. The SuSE side produces the log message "kernel: iucv0 :
connection to user redhat is down" whenever I attempt to ifconfig iucv up
on it. Now that I've followed your advice, the red hat side produces
"kernel: iucv0 : connected with remote side" when I bring it up. Any ideas?
