Is there a way to specify a group in the requires tag such that the

Well, the Group: tag is informational only and not suited for what you
are trying to do. Most other groups (like yum or zypper groups) are only
available in the dependency solvers that implement them. On RPM level
groups can be created with meta packages. These are packages that do not
contain any content but are only used to bind packages together by
Requires. But they can easily confuse people as they look like normal
packages but have a different role. So looking at the group mechanism of
your distribution's dependency solver might be the better option.
