Hi,
Thanks for the reply but my RPM packaging is a lil bit different so I need to know if I am able to get values from a properties file or not.

Hello,
You can use rpm-maven plugin, using maven2 build tool to generate the spec file and the rpm file at one go. I use it very frequently and do not have to worry about spec files any more. The rpm-maven-plugin incorporates almost all of the features of spec file. http://mojo.codehaus.org/rpm-maven-plugin/

Hi,
Is there anyway that I get the name, version and release from a property file or something else, so that I do not have to do changes in a spec file each time I try to package a new version of the software.
