Recent Redhat distros include multiple automake packages that can all be installed concurrently (automake, automake1.5, automake1.4, etc). I suspect Mandrake has similar offerings. So my suggestion would be simply to go to your distro repository; CD or on-line, and install the automake package that rpm-build wants... -Aaron > -----Original Message----- > From: rpm-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:rpm-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ali El Dada > Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 1:13 AM > To: rpm-list@xxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Failed dependencies > > Hi all, > > This is the first time I post here, so please tell me if this > question should be asked somewhere else. > > It's a problem that recurs often, I get a failed dependencies > error when installing an rpm when I shouldn't, eg: > > $ rpm -i rpm-build-4.2.3-9mdk.i586.rpm > error: Failed dependencies: > automake is needed by rpm-build-4.2.3-9mdk > > $ rpm -q automake1.5 > automake1.5-1.5-1mdk > > so i *do* have automake, but it's under a slightly different name.. > > any suggestions? thanks.. > > Ali > > _______________________________________________ > Rpm-list mailing list > Rpm-list@xxxxxxxxxx > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rpm-list > _______________________________________________ Rpm-list mailing list Rpm-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rpm-list
